[This Program is scheduled on Eastern Time Zone]
Wednesday, February 5th 7:30 PM ET
There are so many ways to involve more people in our Synagogues and Affiliates. Our goal is to introduce you to as many successful ways to welcome and connect as possible. Panelists will share ideas and programs that make everyone feel welcomed. We will involve everyone who attends with breakout sessions where you will have a chance to share your own ideas and programs. We will compile our ideas and email them to you.
Our panelists are Marsha Strongin from Synagogue Agudas Achim in Austin, Texas, a past Sisterhood President and a Women’s League Vice President; Marcie Abramson, VP of Engagement at Temple Emanuel, Newton Centre, Massachusetts; and Sue Lischkoff, presently Chair of the Membership Committee and past Sisterhood co-President of Temple Beth-El, Birmingham, Alabama.

Sue Lischkoff
Sue Lischkoff has lived in Birmingham all her life – except when she attended the University of Florida and the University of Alabama!
Sue has been a part of Temple Beth El her entire life. She attended religious school, became a Bat Mitzvah, was confirmed and married her husband Bill at TBE. In addition, their daughters Risa and Paige both attended religious school, celebrated becoming a Bat Mitzvah and were active in our USY Youth Group.
Because of the integral role TBE has played in her life, Sue chose to focus her volunteer efforts at TBE.
Sue has served in many capacities including being a member of the Temple Board and the Foundation Board as well as participating in a variety of special committee work. She has been coordinator of Sisterhood for 9 years and currently is a Board Vice President and co-chair of the Membership Committee.
The Membership Committee has a large focus on not only recruiting new members but also welcoming them and engaging them with the Synagogue community. Sue is looking forward to learning and sharing ideas during our inclusion program.
Marcie Abramson
Marcie Abramson was born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts. Marcie has called Temple Emanuel (TE) her home for many, many years.
She and her brothers all became b’nai mitzvah at TE and her parents were involved in various temple groups. It is this spiritual, religious, and Jewish social background that has guided her to become involved and engaged in the goings on, inside and out, of the shul. She and her husband Jeffrey are regular attendees and supporters of the TE Daily Minyan, where they have made many dear friends. They are also avid sports fans, as well as lovers of travel, by plane, train or automobile!
Marcie is currently on the Board of Directors of Temple Emanuel where she serves as the Vice President of Engagement. Among her many roles, she is co-chair of the Membership Committee, was on the Strategic Planning Committee and is the Chair of the Shabbat Alive Friday Night Greeter Committee.
For over thirty years Marcie was a middle school mathematics teacher and curriculum coordinator and is now an adjunct Education and Math Professor at Brandeis University. She was inducted into the MA Hall of Fame for Mathematics Educators in 2018.
Working in education for so many years has helped her to plan creative and joyous programs at the shul. Her goal is to bring smiles, comfort, and a sense of belonging to all temple members, at all stages of their lives.
