It was truly a revelation to me to see how far-reaching the impact of Torah Fund has been on our Conservative Masorti Movement.
Women’s League was invited to participate in the National Council for Jewish Women’s (NCJW) Task Force on Gender Equality in Israel. The following is a report from Sandy Blumenthal, a member of the Women’s League Israel Team.
Women’s League joined with 56 national faith-based and religious groups in a letter to members of the US Senate in support of Planned Parenthood. These health care centers provide much needed services to millions of people. They work to ensure women’s health and moral autonomy. Click here for the full text of the letter.
The leadership of the movement has asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to intercede with the ultra-orthodox mayor of Rehovot who cancelled the bar/bat mitzvah celebration at the eleventh hour because it was to be held in a Masorti (Conservative) synagogue. Read the letter here.
At its five year anniversary celebration, on February 20, the West LA Fisher House, thanked Women’s League for its 2012 tikkun olam project providing gift cards and outdoor furniture for the families of active duty military and veterans who are receiving extended treatment at the nearby Los Angeles VA Hospital.
