[This Program is scheduled on Eastern Time Zone]
Dear WLCJ member:
The Women’s League Bylaws Revision Committee was charged with reviewing the Bylaws from time to time and recommending necessary changes. After an exhaustive review of our current Bylaws (adopted in 2006 and last revised in 2020), we are recommending the adoption of new bylaws. There were more than 40 changes needed to bring the bylaws up-to-date due to the advance of technology as well as be consistent with current practice.
We held 2 caucuses on June 2 to explain the rationale for the proposed changes and to answer any questions. Our last step before we vote on the bylaws is to share the following documents once more with our membership to help prepare for a vote.
Listed below are three documents:
Please review all three attachments carefully and submit your questions to Marilyn Berkowitz, International Parliamentarian at email@example.com no later than June 13th.
Please register for the special membership meeting on Wednesday, June 15th at 8:00 EST where we will vote on the proposed bylaws.
On June 15th, we will begin the meeting with any questions you might have. We will then take a vote on the bylaws as presented. Due to the restrictions in our current (and proposed) bylaws regarding the notice requirements of any proposed changes/amendments to the bylaws, there will be no amendments allowed. It will be a simple “yes” or “no” vote. We know there are some grammatical (punctuation, spelling, capitalization) and formatting changes that need to be made. If the bylaws are passed, we will make those changes being very careful that they don’t change the meaning of the document.
The vote will be on the following motion:
“I move that we repeal the WLCJ Bylaws adopted in 2006 and last amended in 2020 and adopt the 2022 proposed bylaws.”
The new bylaws will take effect upon adoption.
