Join us on zoom to learn with Dr. Neil Hammerschlag, marine ecologist and world-renowned shark researcher, and raise awareness about the deep Jewish connection to water and reinforce the urgent moral imperative of water conservation.

Dr. Neil Hammerschlag (@DrNeilHammers) is a marine ecologist and world-renowned shark researcher. Neil’s research centers on the behavioral ecology of marine top predators under global change. His current research activities focus on determining the biophysical drivers, ecosystem impacts and conservation implications of large shark movements exposed to urbanization, overfishing and climate change. Neil is also the owner of Atlantic Shark Expeditions, which provides unparalleled opportunities for people to safely experience, discover, and help protect the wonders of sharks. He currently also serves as a Research Associate Professor and Director of the Shark Research & Conservation Program at the University of Miami. Neil received a B.S. in Ecology from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 2002, and his M.S. in Marine Biology from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, in 2004. He completed his Ph.D. in Marine Biology & Fisheries from the Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami in 2009.
