Let me introduce you to our Torah Fund-Founder’s Day speaker: Rabbi Aviva Fellman

Rabbi Aviva is the rabbi of Congregation Beth Israel in Worcester, MA. Born in Boston, Rabbi Aviva grew up locally. She and her family were members of Beth Hillel-Beth El in Wynnewood, PA; she is a product of Federation Day Care, Solomon Schechter Day School (now Perlman) and Akiba Hebrew Academy (now Barrack); and she sang with HaZamir-Philadelphia. After completing her bachelor’s in religious studies suma cum laude at the University of Pittsburgh, at the Schechter Institutes in Jerusalem she took graduate and rabbinical classes as well as the special classes for students from the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS). From the Schechter Institutes she earned a master’s in Talmud and Jewish Law, and then Rabbi Aviva was ordained at JTS in NYC. Her parents are Ellie and Rabbi Jonathan Kremer of Shirat Hayam in Ventnor, NJ. Ellie is secretary of the Mid-Atlantic Region of Women’s League and an international WLCJ board member.

Rabbi Aviva enjoys cooking, baking, reading and being outside. Active in initiatives to end homelessness and address issues of race, inequality and barriers to inclusion, Rabbi Aviva is married to Ari, an IDF veteran, and is Ema to four children.

For Torah Fund-Founder’s Day Rabbi Aviva will help MAR highlight the Schechter Institutes of Jewish Studies, one of the five global institutions of higher learning receiving support from Torah Fund. She will speak about the three Israels: the people (am), the land (eretz) and the state (medinat), bringing in Talmud when relevant. And she might sing!
