Finding Peace Within
Rabbi Dr. Haviva Ner-David is a rabbi, writer, and activist, as well as spiritual companion, mikveh specialist, and rabbinic founder of Shmaya: A Mikveh for Mind, Body, and Soul, on Kibbutz HannatonShe was ordained privately in 2010 by Rabbi Aryeh Strikovsky, an Orthodox rabbi in Jerusalem, and then again in 2016 at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in NYC, where she studied in both the ministry and spiritual direction programs. Haviva is also trained in Dream Work, Nature Soul Retrieval Work, and Thanatology (the study of death and dying). Calling herself a post-denominational inter-spiritual rabbi, her specialty is in mikveh and spiritual direction–often, but not always, combining the two. Haviva is the author of two novels and three memoirs, and the only children’s book about mikveh; she is now working on a fourth memoir about her experiences as a peace and shared society activist in Israel-Palestine since October 7th. Haviva is the founding rabbinic director of Shmaya: a Mikveh for Mind, Body, and Soul – the only mikveh in Israel open to all to immerse as they choose – where she officiates and creates full body immersion ceremonies, teaches, and facilitates workshops. Her main current activist affiliations are with Standing Together, Rabbis for Human Rights, and Spirit of the Galilee. Haviva was born with a degenerative genetic muscular disease that has been both the biggest challenge and blessing of her life, and she and her life partner, Jacob, are the parents of seven children (six biological and one adopted) and have a dog and a cat. She lives in the Galilee, on Kibbutz Hannaton.
