WL Sustainability: Our Planet: Protect, Preserve, Save – Keep It Beautiful!

Celebrate Earth Day with an engaging and solutions-focused panel discussion on climate change and environmental sustainability.

This program will present factual insights and highlight innovative solutions being developed by entrepreneurs, researchers, and corporations working to address environmental challenges. Panelists will explore what is currently possible, what still needs to be done, and how each of us can contribute to protecting and preserving our planet.

Building on our February 2024 program featuring meteorologist Mark Papier and Mirele Goldsmith of the Jewish Earth Alliance, this conversation continues to deepen our understanding while focusing on actionable outcomes.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Current solutions and innovations addressing climate change
  • Key areas where action is still needed
  • Practical ways individuals can make a difference

Featured Speakers:
Yosef Abramowitz is a human rights activist, educator and entrepreneur. Nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize, Abramowitz is recognized as a pioneer of the solar energy industry in Israel and East Africa. He was named by CNN as one of the six top global “Green Pioneers” and by PV Tech as one of the world’s most inspiring solar CEOs. Josef is co-founder of the Arava Power Company, which built the first grid- connected solar field in Israel, in May 2012 closed on $220 million for the next eight solar fields in Israel, in April 2013 closed on another 40 MW project, with a further $2 billion worth of projects in the pipeline. His life’s work was featured on CNN’s “The Next List” with Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

Shani Mink is a seasoned farmer, experiential Jewish educator and the executive director of the Jewish Farmer Network. For over a decade Shani has been working on farms up and down the east coast and abroad as a field hand, educator, manager and consultant including stints at Even’ Star Organic Farm, the Arava Institute, Hava V’Adam, Eden Village Camp, Adamah, and the Pearlstone Center. Her work with the land has deepened her spiritual path, and the wisdom of the Jewish tradition has lent endless meaning and intention to her work as a farmer. Shani’s desire to share the depth and beauty of the connection between farming and Judaism led her to co-found the Jewish Farmer Network with SJ Seldin in 2017. The cultivation of this network is Shani’s proudest accomplishment to date.
