Pause. Breathe. Reflect. Begin Again.

Our amazing Convention 2026 has ended; officers have transitioned into their new roles; and a new Women’s League year before us is moving to a purposeful rhythm filled with possibilities.

Perhaps August is arriving more quickly than you expected, and your calendar is already color-coded with meetings, Zoom calls, educational workshops, and the challenges of launching committees and chairmanships. The dynamic pace of a new year is taking momentum and inviting you along as we begin again. How are you doing with all of this?

Amid this purposeful busyness, I hope you’ll take a quiet moment to Pause. Breathe. Reflect. And remember the why behind our work.

In that stillness, perhaps you’ll hear the whispered voices of our matriarchs and prominent Biblical women: Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, Leah, Miriam, Deborah, Ruth, and Esther calling to us across the generations. They are more than names in our sacred texts; they are women of courage, faith, resilience, and conviction, whose legacy lives on in us—in the choices we make, the communities we nurture, and the values we pass from generation to generation.

Though we are no longer queens, prophets, warriors, or priestesses revered by hundreds—we understand that we can make a difference without a sword, crown, or tambourine. We know that lives are changed not only by extraordinary deeds, but by everyday acts of love and commitment.

Lighting Shabbat candles, teaching a child a blessing, volunteering at synagogue, or quietly saying “yes” when help is needed may seem like small moments. Yet each one preserves our traditions, strengthens our communities, and helps shape the future. By simply using the work of our hands and the strong spirit in our hearts, we can preserve Jewish traditions in our homes and for our community.

The effect of what each of us does is powerful—it’s living the power of one for good. Our individual, dedicated actions, often without recognition, extend far beyond ourselves. Like a single drop falling into the ocean, every act of kindness creates a ripple. Joined with countless other women, those ripples become a wave whose impact reaches far beyond what we can see. That is the enduring power of Jewish women—one caring gesture, one lesson shared, one mitzvah, one voice. This is our stewardship of our Jewish heritage.

As you look at August’s to-do list, Pause to remember the why and take a deep breath. It’s all good!

I look forward to working with you. As we begin again, may we continue to strengthen our communities, inspire one another, and ensure that Women’s League enriches Jewish life for generations to come.

May the work of our hands—and the spirit in our hearts—be a blessing.
