WLCJ Statement on the Destruction of Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center

We are deeply heartbroken by the devastating wildfire that consumed the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center, a cherished sanctuary of worship, learning, and community. While we mourn the loss of the physical space that held generations of sacred moments, we take comfort in the fact that all congregants were safely evacuated, and the Torah scrolls—symbols of our enduring faith and resilience—were rescued from the flames.

Our thoughts and prayers extend to the entire Jewish community and all those in the path of these wildfires. We pray for their safety and well-being, and for the brave first responders working tirelessly to protect lives and property. We also mourn with those who have tragically lost their loved ones, their homes, and their livelihoods.

We will be reaching out to our Women’s League sisters in the area, offering our support and solidarity during this difficult time. As soon as we learn concrete ways to help, we will share that information with our wider community so that we can collectively lend a hand to those in need.

This tragedy is a stark reminder of the fragility of our surroundings and the unyielding strength of our people. In this challenging time, we stand in solidarity with the Pasadena Jewish community and all those affected, offering our prayers and our commitment to help them rebuild and heal.

The spirit of community transcends walls, and the bonds of faith endure beyond any structure.

May the community of the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center rise again, stronger than ever, as a beacon of hope and resilience and may they find comfort, strength, and courage to rebuild in the face of this profound loss. With heartfelt prayers,
