Dear Friend,
As we look ahead to the High Holy Days and embrace the challenges and blessings of a new year, one truth persists: too many people in the United States and Israel face food insecurity. I hope you will join MAZON to raise awareness about the injustice of hunger, and ask your community to support MAZON during the High Holy Days. Your support brings us closer to a world in which no one faces hunger. Together, we can make a profound impact on the lives of those in need.
You can engage your congregation in several ways:
- Ask your congregants to join you in supporting MAZON by making a gift. Please email us at mazon@mazon.org or fill out this form to receive MAZON materials to display in common areas at your synagogue, distribute to your congregation, or include in High Holy Day materials take-home packets. Please note: our address changed recently. Please ensure any envelopes you have reflect the address 15303 Ventura Blvd. #1100, Sherman Oaks CA 91403 or PO Box 6095, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
- Incorporate a discussion about the injustice of hunger into a High Holy Days sermon, study session, or classroom learning. You can draw from MAZON’s sermon starters and discussion questions. We have further resources to accompany your High Holy Days Food Drive and Sukkot celebrations.
- Share MAZON’s 3-minute video as your congregation’s observance allows. This can be featured as part of your general messaging or learning during Elul or the Yamim Noraim. This is a great opportunity to leverage your social media platforms! Talk to us about other opportunities to raise your voice on hunger digitally.
- Run a MAZON ad in your newsletter and/or e-newsletter (scroll to bottom of linked page). Please tell us if you have any specific needs in this regard.
Thank you for your partnership. We wish you the best as you create sacred space for prayer, learning, and community this High Holy Day season.
Warmly,
Abby J. Leibman
President & CEO
P.S. The High Holy Days are late this year — if you’re looking for a way to engage your synagogue now, ask us about MAZON’s Hunger Action Month! We’d love to work with your community members to set up a congressional meeting.
