Parashat Ki Teitzei 5784

by Rabbi Ellen S. Wolintz-Fields

The maftir portion, the final aliyah for this week’s Torah reading, Parashat Ki Teitzei is the same maftir reading for Shabbat Zachor, the Shabbat before Purim, verses 17-19 in Deuteronomy chapter 25 – Zachor Et Asher Asah Licha Amalek, Remember what Amalek did to you (Deuteronomy 25:17). Today we have our own Amalek to battle. It is almost a year since Hamas attacked innocent people in their homes and while attending the Nova Music Festival. Now more than ever, we need to show our support for the State of Israel, and be proud that we are part of the Jewish Community. We must not let fear run our lives, but rather take pride in being part of Am Yisrael, the people of Israel. How will you show your Jewish pride today? One way is by supporting this year’s Torah Fund campaign: https://wlcj2.org/u/?R1c6460lAm Yisrael Chai!  The People of Israel Live!
