USCJ Launches YALA, A New Young Adult Engagement Initiative
Run by a volunteer committee of young professionals,
YALA will offer Shabbatonim, events, micro-grants, and much more!
Dear Friends,
USCJ proudly announces our new young adult engagement initiative: YALA (Young Adults, Leaders, and Alumni). You may have heard rumblings of our pilot programs over the past year, including a 20s/30s Shabbaton at our Movement-wide Convening in December. Together with a passionate volunteer committee of young professionals, we have turned this idea into a full-fledged program of the Conservative/Masorti Movement.
It’s no secret that Jews in their 20s and 30s are less likely to affiliate with a synagogue – but still desire spiritual connection. That’s why we’re stretching beyond synagogue walls to reach young adults where they are and provide deep, fulfilling Conservative/Masorti Jewish experiences at highly subsidized rates. We’ll even provide the seed funding for our communities to host their own events.
This bridge between engaging teens and engaging families has been needed for a long time. We were honored with a generous bequest to make this happen and we can’t wait for you to get involved.
See you soon,
Rabbi Jacob Blumenthal, CEO
Joyce Juda, Director of YALA
