Rosh Hashanah 5784

by Rabbi Ellen S. Wolintz-Fields

We recently received a letter from an organization that wished us a happy new year – but for a year way beyond 5784 – suggesting we dream of what we want that organization to look like, all those future years away. After reading the letter, I had the persistent thought: what would be our vision of how we want Women’s League for Conservative Judaism (WLCJ)  to look as an organization, in 5784; 5794; 5884 – pick a year!  After all, the world has changed since we were founded in 1918, and WLCJ is even stronger, more active, and more innovative than ever before. One of the many highlights of WLCJ Convention 2023 was celebrating the Bat Mitzvah ceremony of so many of our sisters. Here is a link to relive that amazing milestone in the lives of our sisters and WLCJ. One new vision we have is Mathilde’s Master Class, a three year course, offered to WLCJ members, in which we will study women’s voices, in text, history, and ritual with accomplished women scholars in their fields. We will also have another cohort of Bat Mitzvah students who will study over the next three years. We are planning our next Convention in 2026. The Torah Fund theme for 5785 is being planned. At WLCJ, we are always envisioning how we want WLCJ to look this year and in future years. We need to do it together, for we are all responsible to each other and we are responsible for the future of WLCJ. Thank you for your continued support of the work of our members. Thank you to the past, present and future leaders of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism. A wonderful way to show our gratitude to all of our WLCJ leadership is a donation to WLCJ. Todah Rabbah! Thank you!
