Shavuot Day 2 5783

by Rabbi Ellen S. Wolintz-Fields

Shavuot is one of my favorite holidays – because we stay up all night and study and then when you take a nap the next day, no one can complain that you are sleeping, because you never got to sleep the night before. However, not everyone observes Shavuot by studying all night, but that is fine; we each observe in our own way. The important concept is to study some Torah, and to contemplate what role does Torah study play in your life. Do you set aside some time in your day, your week, your month, your life in general, to study Torah? And Torah does not need to be literally the Five Books of Moses; rather, what role does Jewish study play in your life? Women’s League for Conservative Judaism is honored and privileged to be able to play a part in bringing Jewish study into our sisters’ lives. May we continue to study together with good health and joy. Chazak v’Ematz – Be Strong and Courageous!
