Masorti Women’s Study Day in Israel, June 18, 2010

The national Masorti Women’s Study Day, June 18, is more than just a day of classes. It is a happening, with women from all over Israel, ages 16-86, coming to the Schechter Institute in Jerusalem and participating in engaging classes taught in English, Spanish, Russian, and Hebrew. This annual event, created by the women of the Masorti movement in Israel, is sponsored by Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, the Schechter Institute, and the Masorti Movement.

The theme, A Woman Builds, recognizes women’s multiple roles in building community and the nation.

The faculty includes Prof. Alice Shalvi, leading Israeli feminist and scholar; Dr. Aliza Lavie, author of Tefilot Nashim that uncovers centuries of women’s prayers; and Rabbi David Golinkin, the president of the Schechter Institute who will speak on bioethical issues.

All are welcome.
