Joyce Weingarten and Staying Active After Sisterhood Disaffiliation

Joyce Weingarten, WLCJ Past International Vice President and Individual Member, Central Great Lakes Region

My journey with Women’s League for Conservative Judaism began while attending my first Convention as Sisterhood President in 1997. I went on to serve as Region President, and, under the Presidency of Rita Wertlieb, I became an International Vice President. I have served as a Women’s League Trainer and have worked with many Women’s League Presidents and distinguished leaders.

During these experiences I have cultivated friendships, continued my Jewish education enhanced my leadership skills. When my Sisterhood Affiliate disaffiliated from Women’s League, I continued as an Individual Member. Our Torah Fund team, which I have been a part of for quite some time, continues to raise funds to support students in our seminaries all over the world.

I recently served as President of Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills, Michigan. This achievement was made possible by my years of leadership experiences at my synagogue and Women’s League. Your membership and involvement with Women’s League for Conservative Judaism as a member of your Sisterhood Sisterhood or as an Individual Member will be a valuable personal and professional Jewish journey that will enhance your life forever.
