Parashat Ki Tavo begins with the First Fruits Ceremony, which was one of the ways that ancient Israelites, who were farmers, expressed their gratitude to God. The First Fruits Ceremony was an acknowledgement of the land’s fertility and awareness of God’s part in the abundance of the farmer’s crops. It is our responsibility to take care of the land that God has provided us. Judaism teaches that we are all stewards of the earth, and that we have a responsibility to care for it. By getting involved in the environmentalism and sustainability movements, we can help make a difference in the world. Has your Sisterhood Affiliate registered to participate in Reverse Tashlich? This will be a great way to show our responsibility to God’s planet.
