Be’reishit….In the Beginning
AND So, I begin.
What a week! I just returned from our WLCJ Triennial convention. How honored I was to be installed as Women’s League’s 22nd president. Tonight I will celebrate Shabbat at Temple Sholom of Flatbush, Brooklyn at their “Shabbat by the Sea”. AND so, I truly begin my travels.
Convention is an experience that words can barely describe. Convention: Four days, almost 450 “sisters”, brilliant scholars, the heads of all five Conservative/Masorti Rabbinical institutions, speakers, authors, Judaic art projects, panel discussions, networking, learning and sharing, installations, social action, program on Israel, a History Hop, teffilot, ruach and tons of hugs. Kol HaKavod to chair Barbara Ezring, vice chair Renee Ravich and their massive convention committee. AND so, this is a welcome Shabbat for all of us to rest and reenergize.
As I stated in my installation address, this is not a journey I plan on traveling alone. I expect my “to do” list to grow exponentially each day and each week. This week might finally be over, but “OUR” journey is just beginning. Be’reishit.
This Shabbat I hope you will reflect on new beginnings and also where and when our paths will cross. We have exciting work to do together. Let the journey begin!!
