“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” – Warren Bennis, organizational consultant
Shabbat Shalom!
I’ve been thinking a lot about leadership the past week, well maybe more than the past week! Every morning I receive, in my inbox, a publication about leadership, it is called SmartBrief on Leadership. It is a very interesting publication with articles about leadership that is typically geared towards business, but is very relevant to non-profit organizations, such as WLCJ and your sisterhood.
I’ve been thinking about leadership these past few weeks because this is the time of the year that you, our sisterhood leaders, are beginning to plan for the coming year….making plans, creating a vision for your sisterhood for the coming year. Are you planning all of your programs and events around one theme? Are you starting that Rosh Chodesh group after listening to the Distance Workshop this week? Or are you working with the other arms of your synagogues to plan some joint events?
That is what leaders do…you start with a vision of what your sisterhood year will look like….membership events, special interest groups, a Torah Fund event, plus education and more….and then we work to make it a reality. And along the way, we are inclusive of all of the women in our sisterhood and beyond…with the vision of not only growing our membership but growing our leadership. Mentoring our new members to become next year’s new leaders. Asking new members to share their ideas and having them run with them.
That is my vision and hopefully yours…that we focus on growing our leaders so that next year we can incorporate their vision into our reality.
Wishing each of you a peaceful and meaningful Shabbat,
Carol
