“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Chag Sameach and Shabbat Shalom!

I hope that you have not tired of matzo yet…and that the you each had a beautiful holiday with memorable sederim. If your house is anything like ours, the matzo crumbs are definitely winning!

As we think back to the premise of our holiday of Pesach, it certainly focuses us on the concept of freedom, and what our ancestors went through for us to have the land of Israel. Yet, freedom means so much more today….we have the freedom to worship where we want, the freedom to travel, the freedom to explore new ways of doing things in our homes and in our sisterhoods (you knew that I would weave that in!) and the freedom to learn from our mistakes! We also have the freedom to examine and be able to improve what we do..at home, with our families friends and ourselves.

So as our holiday celebrating freedom is coming to a close…and we get to pack up our dishes and haggadot, we should not also pack up our blessing of freedom…but leave it out in front of us each day…to celebrate all that we have and the ability to celebrate all of our choices.

Wishing each of you a good holiday and an early Shabbat Shalom, may this Shabbat be meaningful to each of you.

Chag Sameach and Shabbat Shalom,
Carol
