December 24 Message

“If you will it, it is no dream.” – Theodore Herzl

carol_simon

This morning, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Theodore Herzl Museum in Jerusalem with my husband and 15 year old grandson. We listened to the introduction, and then entered the first of three rooms, that had us experience and learn about Herzl. As soon as I heard this quote…I knew that I found my focus for this week’s Shabbat message.

How many of us lament about the way things used to be, especially the way our sisterhoods used to be….. larger, more volunteers, younger…. I could go on, but that is not the message. The message is that we need to will it, we need to focus our energies on not once was, but what could be….if we will our sisterhoods to have the same goals, the same purpose that our sisterhoods always have had…. then it will be. True, it may look different, but if we will it to be a place where we learn together, do good for the synagogue, socialize together, as it always has been then it will be no dream, it will be a reality.

Shabbat Shalom from a very chilly Jerusalem,
