Conference of Presidents Meets with Vice President Biden and Other Key Administration Leaders

May 22, 2012… Executive Director Sarrae Crane and former Presidents Cory Schneider and Janet Tobin were among the delegation of 70 leaders of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations who met in Washington, D.C. on May 21 with Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and other top Administration officials for extensive briefings and discussions on an array of key issues related to US foreign policy including preventing Iran from developing or acquiring nuclear weapons, US-Israel security cooperation, turmoil in the Middle East, and security threats at home.

In addition to the Vice President, the group met with Denis McDonough, Deputy National Security Advisor; Thomas Nides, Deputy Secretary of State; Steven Simon, Senior Director for Middle East and North Africa at the National Security Council; David Cohen, Undersecretary of Treasury for Terrorism & Financial Intelligence; John Cohen, Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism, Department of Homeland Security; and Jarrod Bernstein, White House Director of Jewish Outreach.

The senior officials reiterated the Administration’s “ironclad” commitment to Israel’s security and their determination to “keep all options on the table” to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran.
