 vember 20th\n\n2:30 PM - 3:30 PM ET – Virtual Event\n\nPlease join us as
  architect Miriam Gusevich shares her urban design projects that seek to r
 estore the presence and tragic experiences of the Jews in Ukraine during t
 he Holocaust. Miriam will describe and illustrate (through slides and vide
 os) three projects.\n&nbsp\;\nTwo of the projects are award-winning memori
 als in Kyiv: “Constellations”\, designed in memory of the martyrs of E
 uro-Maidan\, and “Yahrtzeit Candles\,” designed in memory of the marty
 rs of Babyn Yar. The third project (which has been delayed due to the war 
 in Ukraine) is a commission to restore the Jewish Cemetery in Sambir\, loc
 ated in the Ukrainian province of Lviv Oblast. These memorials represent a
  plea to honor the tragic past of both the Holodomor and the Shoah\, and t
 o protect Jewish memory sites as a source of strength for the future.\n&nb
 sp\;\n&nbsp\;\n\nMiriam Gusevich is originally from Cuba and resides in Wa
 shington\, D.C. She received the Bachelor of Architecture (1975) and Maste
 r of Architecture (1979) degrees from Cornell University and a Loeb Fellow
 ship’97 from Harvard. She is the founding principal of GM2 Studio\, LLC 
 and CEO of Restoring our Places\, an NGO to recover Jewish sites in Wester
 n Ukraine. She is professor emerita at Catholic University of America. Her
  work as an urban designer\, scholar and teacher has won multiple design a
 wards and research grants.\n&nbsp\;\nMiriam's talk will be followed by a d
 iscussion moderated by Martya Levytska\, a Ukrainian attorney living in Wa
 shington\, D.C. Light refreshments will follow. The program is open to all
