Israel – Aid and Assistance (1952)

“If I forget Thee, O Jerusalem.” – Psalm 137

WHEREAS, the State of Israel is now undergoing a severe economic crisis due to the unprecedented ingathering of three-quarter million destitute Jews who otherwise would have faced extinction, and

WHEREAS, Israel is surrounded by hostile Arab states waging an economic war against the State of Israel and working for its collapse, and

WHEREAS the State of Israel is the only bastion of democracy in the Near East and must be upheld, and

WHEREAS, National Women’s League of the United Synagogue is deeply conscious of Israel’s urgent needs,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the National Women’s League pledge every possible aid to assure the success of the United Jewish Appeal, the Bond Drive and related assistance to the young State, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the National Women’s League urge the United States government to continue grants-in-aid and other assistance to Israel.
